Say goodbye to a humdrum and boring desk. Personalize your workspace to make it your own.
Let’s face it, no one wants to work in a boring workspace. In fact, your work environment can not only affect your productivity but your quality of work as well. Think about it: when working in a cheerful space with plenty of color and light versus working in a stoic and monotone area, you will often create more epicness in the more colorful area. In order to make sure that you stay focused and work smarter, you can personalize your workspace to make it a respite for efficiency while you crank out wonderfulness.
Check out my list of 6 ways to personalize your workspace for world domination:
Unique color palette
Color can really help spruce up your workspace and give it a vibrant feel. Using a select color palette with your favorite colors is an easy way to modernize your office space and allow your uniqueness to shine. Select two to three colors and buy office supplies and items that achieve a colorful theme. Make sure not to overdo it, however. Select pieces that are within your color scheme, but also select a main theme (white, gray, brown etc.) that creates the foundation, allowing the pieces of color to make the area pop.
Fab decor
Speaking of color, decor is one way to personalize your workspace. Select frames, pillows, file folders, and furniture that lend well to the person that you are. Make a statement by framing your favorite quotes on the wall, or photos of your friends and family to give your office a homey, yet delightful feel. Create a workspace that inspires you while you are on the J-O-B.
Fun options
Adding fun options like removable adhesives and wallpaper (as shown here by Walls Need Love) to your walls, desk, or seating really make for a fabulous and funky look. You can also add washi tape to your office supplies (stapler, tape dispenser, pen and pencil jar) for some creative flair.
Think Different
Do you have a collection of books collecting dust? Stack them high, add some glass, and make it a coffee table for your office. Hang a chalkboard on the wall so you can visually see your ideas in motion (this also helps others collaborate with you on projects and tasks). Use your wall space efficiently to make a pleasant (and inspirational) statement.
Kids’ Art
Do you have children or little family members who bring home art from school? Make this your canvas and use it to decorate your walls. Do you remember by glass coffee table idea from earlier? You can use some of the drawings and paintings under the glass as a conversation piece—you and your office guests will love it.
Words
Do you have a favorite word or saying? Print it out in various fonts, colors, and sizes and place them strategically all over your workspace. This can “brand” you and help you stay motivated and encouraged while you work.
Your office space is a reflection of who you are. Personalize your workspace in order to showcase your creativity while making it a sanctuary for your ideas and vision.
